The Mahalakshmi Layout police, who are probing the case of attempt to kidnap Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa’s personal assitant Vinay in May this year, have summoned N R Santosh, a personal assistant of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa for questioning.
According to the police, Santosh was named suspect in the case after his name cropped up during interrogation of those who have been arrested in the case. The police have so far arrested six persons and their questioning revealed the involvement of Santosh, a senior police officer said.

A police team had gone in search of Santosh to Yeddyurappa’s house at midnight a few days ago. Santosh had gone missing till he was granted anticipatory bail five days ago.

On Tuesday, the investigating officer (ACP Malleshwaram) summoned Santosh to appear before him for questioning on Thursday. The police said that apart from Santosh many others are involved in the attempt to kidnap Vinay and, a detailed investigation was needed to solve the case.

A gang had intercepted Vinay’s car at Mahalakshmi Layout in May while he was returning home. The culprits had attacked Vinay and tried to kidnap him. Vinay raised an alarm prompting passersby to rush to his rescue, following which the gang fled the spot.
