Police are still investigating what made 21-year-old IIITB student Goluguri Sai Sharath jump from the seventh floor of his hostel building in Electronics City, south Bengaluru, on Friday.

Sharath, a seventh-semester student of Integrated MTech at the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITB), was found dead by the hostel’s security guards in the early hours of Friday.

Police have found that Sharath had been active on his phone till the final moments but deleted the call history just before leaping to his death.

Police unlocked his phone with the help of a technician and are reviewing the call detail records.
Sharath hailed from Hyderabad and was the second son of Kodandarama Reddy, an officer in the Income Tax Department, and Sudha Rani.

His elder brother, Sathya Raviteja, is a student in the US.

On Thursday night, Sharath accompanied 11 friends to a restaurant in BTM Layout to celebrate the birthday of a classmate. He returned to the hostel around 1.30 am, hours before jumping to his death.
Police didn’t find any suicide letter. Sharath was an introvert and a man of few words, police quoted his friends as saying.
