Dist ministers reshuffled

The party has preferred proactive ministers in districts, where the party sees potential to widen its base. The appointments are made as per the decision of the party’s core committee.

Transport minister R Ashok, who was minister in-charge of Bangalore South, has been given additional charge of Mandya, the district dominated by Vokkaligas. He has replaced Medical Education minister Ramachandra Gowda, who has been put in-charge of Chikmagalur district.

Higher Education minister Aravind Limbavali, who was in-charge for three districts, has been confined to Kolar. Labour minister B N Bache Gowda is put in-charge of Hassan district, besides Bangalore Rural. The party has preferred a Vokkaliga in the district, where the JD(S) is strong.

Law minister Suresh Kumar, who was in-charge of Tumkur district, has been given the additional charge of Mysore. Earlier, Shobha Karandlaje was in-charge.
Others include Jagadish Shettar (Dharwad), Renukacharya (Kodagu), Anand Asnotikar (Raichur), K Shivanagouda Naik (Koppal).

Public Works minister C M Udasi, who held both Raichur and Haveri districts, has been confined to Haveri. Umesh Katti and Balachandra Jarkiholi have not been assigned districts. Similarly those five independent MLAs, who became ministers after joining the BJP, have not been given responsibilities. But there are no changes in the responsibilities held by the Reddy ministers of Bellary and Minister Sriramulu.
BJP State President K S Eshwarappa said the Cabinet reshuffle will take place later.
