UP Cong chief lands in soup over speech

Joshi, while addressing a farmers’ rally in Basti district on Wednesday, allegedly used some derogatory remarks over the colour of Mayawati’s statues. According to reports, Joshi allegedly said that Mayawati has been installing ‘kali-kali murtiyan’ (black statues).

Although Joshi denied having made and derogatory references to Mayawati and alleged that the media was twisting her remarks, sources in the government said that the district officials were in possession of the video tape of her speech and were examining it.

“Senior district officials have rushed to the state capital with the video recording of the speech and the same is being examined and legal opinion is being taken,” said sources.
Joshi in the meanwhile told reporters that her words were being misinterpreted by the media to create a controversy.
