BJP terms pre-poll survey bogus

Last Updated 21 August 2017, 20:32 IST

The BJP on Monday termed the pre-poll survey in Karnataka conducted by a private research organisation as bogus and dared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately go to polls if the survey is correct.

State BJP general secretary C T Ravi said the survey conducted by C Fore is sponsored by the ruling Congress. “C means Congress. The survey has been conducted at the behest of the Chief Minister...If it (survey) is correct, then Siddaramaiah should immediately dissolve the Assembly and go for elections,” he told reporters who sought his reaction on the pre-poll survey.

The survey has revealed that the Congress will emerge as the single largest party and also secure a majority by winning 120-132 seats if the Assembly polls were to be held today. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rubbished BJP’s charge that the survey was Congress sponsored. “The survey was an independent one, not a survey the Congress commissioned. How will the BJP accept the survey whose results are in our favour?” he asked.

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said the survey shows that people have faith in the Congress. The party government has fulfilled all promises it had made during the 2013 Assembly elections. Hence, people have reposed faith in the party, he claimed.
