Kannada actor Sanjjanaa Galrani on Monday submitted a petition before the registrar of co-operative societies, seeking action against Mahesh and his wife Nirupa, of Prasiddhi Chit Funds Private Limited, for cheating her to the tune of Rs 26 lakh.

The company was located on 4th Cross, Malleswaram. The couple is accused of cheating investors to the tune of over Rs 100 crore.  Two months ago, Mahesh closed his chit fund office and disappeared with his wife all of a sudden. It is suspected the couple is hiding in a neighbouring state.

Sanjjanaa had reportedly invested Rs 26 lakh. She lodged a complaint with the Malleswaram police on August 19. The actor met M K Aiyappa, the registrar of co-operative societies, and submitted a petition to him.

“The authorities have decided to invoke provisions for criminal offences, besides slapping a notice on the couple,” she told reporters.

“A non-bailable warrant may be issued against them. Officers have promised me that the couple will be arrested within three days,” she said.

According to the police, the couple have cheated over 150 families. They bought flats and expensive cars using investors’ money.
