IAS coaching centre chief booked for attack on ex-faculty

Last Updated 22 August 2017, 20:33 IST

The High Grounds police have booked the managing director of Pragnya IAS Academy and a few others for assaulting a 32-year-old former faculty member of the academy near Race Course Road in Friday.

The victim, Sathish, a techie has been admitted to Apollo Hospital and his condition is said to be critical. According to the police, the academy’s managing director Tejas was the mastermind behind the attack. Tejas owned Pragnya IAS Academy where around 60 candidates had enrolled and were taking coaching for civil service exams. His academy is located near BDA Complex in HSR Layout and has a branch in Hyderabad. Both Tejas and Sathish are from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, the police added.

Sathish, who was earlier a faculty member at Pragnya, expressed his desire to start his own academy in HSR Layout. This did not go down well with Tejas, especially after he learnt that around 25 students dropped out of his academy and joined Sathish’s academy recently. Irked by this, Tejas hatched a plot to eliminate Sathish. He gave ‘supari’ to a few of his relatives who started monitoring Sathish’s movements. They learnt that  Sathish was going to Hyderabad on Friday night. He had booked a seat in a private bus and was to board the bus at SRS Travels office near Race Course. When Sathish reached SRS Travels at around 9.45 pm, three unidentified men accosted him, stabbed and assaulted him. Thinking that he will not survive, the three fled the spot.

Passers-by rushed to Sathish’s help and shifted him to Victoria Hospital from where he was shifted to Apollo Hospital. The High Grounds police have registered a case of attempt to murder and are investigating it.
