Chief secy, others told to appear in contempt case

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday said that if the state government does not comply with its directions, then the accused in the contempt petition should appear before the court to face further action.

While hearing a contempt petition filed by the Karnataka High Court Employees Welfare Association, represented by its president, a division bench comprising Justice B S Patil and Justice B V Nagarathna said the accused in the contempt petition chief secretary, Subhashchandra Kuntia; principal secretary, finance department, I S N Prasad; principal secretary, department of law justice and human rights N L Srinivasan and deputy secretary (Finance- 2) Rajalakshmi be present before the court on September 1.

Karnataka High Court Employees Welfare Association had filed a contempt petition with regard to non-compliance of the high court order which had directed the state government to implement central pay scale benefits to the employees.
