Last Updated 23 August 2017, 20:42 IST

The Mahalakshmi Layout police have approached the court seeking cancellation of the bail of N R Santosh, personal assistant to state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa, saying he is not cooperating with investigations.

Santosh, who is the prime suspect in the attempt to kidnap of Vinay, personal assistant to leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council, K S Eshwarappa, is refusing to part
with crucial evidence, the police said.

Santosh was questioned by the investigating officer several times and was asked to hand over the mobile phone by which he communicated with the other suspects to plan the kidnap.

The police are now contemplating taking him into their custody for detailed interrogation to obtain necessary evidence for charge-sheeting in the case.

The other suspects, including BJP Yuva Morcha Bengaluru unit’s general secretary Rajendra Urs, had confessed that they had carried out the plan to kidnap Vinay to recover a pen drive and a laptop from him, the police said.

Two of the suspects, who are history-sheeters, have also confessed to the police that Santosh and Urs had promised them money and also assured them that their names would be cleared from the history-sheets of the city police after they accomplished the task.
