Janata Dal (Secular) state general secretary H H Devaraj has warned of laying siege to the venue of Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) progress review meeting if the works on Karagada lift irrigation is not completed within a month.

Devaraj told reporters on Monday here that he, along with his party workers, will besiege the ZP office, where the District In-charge Minister R Roshan Baig is expected to chair the meeting.

Launching a scathing attack on MLA C T Ravi, Devaraj said, "Though, in his third term as a legislator, Ravi’s nonchalance in completing the work is the main reason for incomplete work. The canals have been filled with silt, while the work is limping due to the internal bickerings among the leaders. Both the parties—the Congress and the BJP—are two faces of the same coin’, he added.

Demanding proof from Ravi who has claimed to have laid road to his (Devaraj) farm, Devaraj said the approach roads have turned slushy with potholes adding to the woes. He also demanded the filing of a criminal case against Ravi for laying roads to coffee estates illegally.

Devaraj warned of staging protest if the bust of Dr B R Ambedkar earlier installed near district government maternity hospital, shifted during road widening works, was not reinstalled within one week. Even after the completion of works a year ago, the bust remains to be brought back to its original place, he said.
