The corporators took severe exception to the officials' negligence and alleged that the officials were reluctant to work and listen to the people’s representatives. The corporators expressed displeasure against the officials during the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) council meet, here on Monday.

Health Standing Committee Chairman Mahadevappa alleged that no official is bothered to deliver efficient work. The officials are not preparing action plans, estimation of works on time.

Kempanna alleged that the officials have failed to take up development works due to administration lapses. He said that a majority of the officials do not respond to phone calls of the corporators. He asked the mayor to supersede the council stating, “If the officials are not listening to the people's representatives and are not executing works efficiently, what is the use of the council meet.”

Nandeesh Preetham alleged that the system has been collapsed. Similarly, Nataraj, P Prashanth Gowda and others took severe exception to the negligence of the officials.

Shoukath Pasha said that all wards are facing underground drainage system (UGD) problems. The people question the representatives and not the officials when they face problems, he said.

Defending the officials, K V Mallesh said, without funds, how can the officials take up the works. Mallesh asked the mayor to release the funds for the works.

Vehicles for standing committee chairpersons

The corporators demanded the mayor to provide vehicles to the chairpersons of the standing committees. It may be mentioned that earlier vehicles were provided to the chairpersons, but were withdrawn as there is no provision for vehicles.

According to the corporators, there is no provision of vehicles for Environment Engineers, but the engineers have been using vehicles provided by the MCC. “We (chairpersons) also tour the city and vehicles are very much needed," they demanded.

MCC Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that he has written a letter to the state government in connection with providing vehicles to the chairmen and the standing committees, but is yet to receive a reply.
