We're here to deliver Vajpayee's vision of road network: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated 11 National Highway projects, covering a total length of about 873 km in Udaipur on Tuesday.
 
The projects include a 6-lane cable stayed bridge across the river Chambal at Kota; 4-lane of Gomati Chauraha-Udaipur section of NH-8, and Rajsamand-Bhilwara section of NH-758.

The total outlay cost of these projects is estimated to be Rs 15,000 crore. In his 20 minutes address at a public rally, Modi remembered former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who initiated plans for the construction of the golden quadrilateral connecting India.

He said, "Better roads will help our farmers immensely. This is one of the reasons why Atal Ji dreamt of strong roads network across India. We are here to work and deliver results and therefore we are inaugurating infrastructure projects worth Rs 9,000 crore at once. The work for construction of the Kota bridge was shut down, but when you take decisions with courage you get results."

Prime Minister in his address also ridiculed UPA government for taking more than 10 years in constructing the hanging bridge over Chambal river in Kota.
 
Referring to the recent flood in Rajasthan that claimed several lives, PM assured that people of Rajasthan have the full support of the government, PM said “All those affected by floods in Rajasthan that the Government of India is with you in this difficult time.”  Prime Minister also laid emphasis to bring transformation in transportation in India. PM retorted "GST has helped in reduction of transport cost and increased the earning of drivers of trucks, tractor trolleys in the country, we are working to bring transformation in transportation in India".
 
Describing BJP government as poor friendly, Modi in his speech said, "This government works for the poor, we have increased the scope, scale and skills of people says PM Modi on various government run schemes".  PM Modi visited an exhibition in Udaipur on National Highway Projects; Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje also present.
 
CM Vasundhara Raje while addressing the crowd said that it is because of PM Narendra Modi’s determination your determination and will power that India is today considered as a world power. Earlier while praising Modi, Vasundhara Raje took on to twitter and said "PM @narendramodi’s name is synonymous with trust. Based on PM’s vision, we are poised to usher in a New India.”
 
Modi was received by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh (BJP) in Udaipur on Tuesday. This was Modi's second visit to Rajasthan during the BJP government and is significant, as the state is going to polls in 2018.

His visit comes a month after BJP chief Amit Shah visited Rajasthan and poured praises for Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for her vision on development. PM's first visit to Rajasthan during the Raje's tenure was in February 2015 when he inaugurated Soil Health Cards in the state.
