Vettori fine with current quota for foreigners in IPL

"It seems the system (of four foreigners) is working well. I think the idea was to have the Indian cricketers playing along with international players so that they get exposure and gain experience," Vettori said on the eve of Delhi Daredevils' match against Kings XI Punjab here on Sunday.

The Kiwi captain, who has played in just two matches this season since he was busy doing national duty, said a win tomorrow would place Delhi in a good position for a semifinal place.

"We need two wins from our four remaining matches. It would be a tough match against Kings XI which boast of players like Yuvraj Singh and Mahela Jayawardene. We want to win to boost our semifinal chances," said the left-arm spinner.

Asked about Royal Challenger Bangalore captain Anil Kumble's comment that Ferozeshah Kotla is unfit for Twenty20 cricket, Vettori refused to comment, saying he has played just one match here.

"It is hard to comment much (on Kumble remarks) as I have played just one match here (against Bangalore). The wicket is on slower side, no doubt about it. But international cricket has been like that. We play in different types of wicket and hopefully we would play a good game of cricket tomorrow.

"If we win the toss tomorrow I think we would bat first as that has been the trend. We would want to put up a big score," he said.Asked about the spinners doing well in the IPL-III, Vettori said there was nothing unusual about it as the slow bowlers have been faring well in international cricket.

"I don't think it is much different from what is happening in international arena. It is good that spinners are doing well in the IPL," said Vettori. He was not concerned about the talk of non-stop cricket.

"It is about the right balance but I feel playing more cricket, the better (for game)," he said.Vettori also said India has enough spin-bowling talent and given them chance they will become top performers.

"Harbhajan Singh is number one spinner in India. He is a world-class bowler. Then you have Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha and others. Give them more chance in the international arena and I think they will become world-class," Vettori said.
