Siddaramaiah demands White Paper on power

Last Updated 10 April 2010, 16:35 IST

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, he said the white paper should reveal how much of power has been generated in the past three-and-half years and how much money has been spent for the purpose.

“Let them make us clear what they have done towards checking transmission and distribution loss and power theft. Yeddyurappa can’t escape from his responsibilities by just blaming the previous governments,” he said.

CM’s habit

Siddaramaiah said it has become a habit for Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa to blame the previous governments for the present power crisis. Instead of doing this, they should have solved the problems efficiently, he said.

“The only thing the government has done is signing an agreement with the Chattisgarh government for obtaining additional power. But even land has not been identified in Chattisgarh for setting up the plant. The BJP had even assured the voters that it would produce at least 5,000 mw electricity if it was voted to power,” the Opposition leader said.

“The CM had promised in the Assembly that the government would be purchasing 1,000 mw power immediately to guarantee uninterrupted power supply during SSLC exams. But his assurance has proved hollow,” he criticised.
