HC notice to KSCA


The Court was hearing a petition filed by Brijesh Patel, Secretary, KSCA, who had challenged the probe ordered by the Minister for Co-operative Department into the alleged misappropriation of funds.

Patel in his submission sought to know the status of investigation and said that he was in USA to celebrate the birthday of his grandson and it was followed by the IPL tournament.

He further submitted that under Section 25 of the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, the minister cannot direct an inquiry and sought to quash it.

Justice N K Patil, who heard the matter ordered notice to the Stategovernment. He also sought details regarding the status of the inquiry into the embezzlement of funds.

Appointments withheld

The High Court has withheld the appointment of 104 assistant executive engineers to Public Work Department.

H M T Swamy and others had challenged the appointment, citing the HC interim order which stayed the recruitment process.

However, a preliminary list of the selected candidates was announced recently.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit has kept the appointments in abeyance.

Cost imposed

The High Court has levied a cost of Rs 15,000 on Ramakrishna PU College at Chikmagalur for illegally admitting a student to the college.

Suhael, a student of the college had sought the intervention of the HC to declare his results withheld by the PU Board. The Board had levied a fine of Rs 5,000 on the college for illegally allowing the student to write the examination, despite the fact he had failed in 10th standard at National Institute of Open School at Dubai at the time of admission to the college.

Justice Mohan Shanthanagowdar dismissed the petition imposing a cost of Rs 15,000.
