DAE scientist commits suicide; senior booked

Tirumala Prasad Tenka (30) of Department of Atomic Energy-run Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) was found hanging at his house in Rajendra Nagar on Saturday night. The bachelor had left behind a letter holding his senior, G S Lodha, responsible for his taking the extreme step, police said.

Lodha, a senior officer of Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, was on Sunday booked under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide). The letter alleged that Lodha had mentally tortured him, police said.

Tenka, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, was working with the centre for the last five years.
“We have lost a talented scientist and it is a big jolt to us. It is hard for us to understand right now in what circumstances Tenka took this extreme step,” RRCAT Director P D Gupta said.

RRCAT was providing all help to the police in the investigation, he said.
After doing his bachelors from training school of RRCAT in 2005, Tenka joined its Indus Synchrotron Utilisation Division as scientist officer (Grade C). He was promoted within two years, officials said.
