Navarathri will be celebrated at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple from September 21 to 29.

Addressing reporters on the temple premises, former Union minister B Janardhana Poojary said that preparations are on in full swing for Dasara at the temple. The consecration of Navadurgas, nine forms of the Goddess and Sharada, will be held at 12.20 pm on September 21. Sacred fire rituals and special Pujas will be performed, he added.

During Navarathri, cultural programmes will be held at the Santhoshi Kalamantapa of the temple from 6 pm every day.

The ‘Shobhayatra’ or the idol immersion procession will be held on September 28 at 4 pm. More than 75 tableaux will be part of the procession along with 500 colourful umbrellas.

Poojary said he is keen on monitoring the preparations and has visited the streets to oversee the decoration works even though he was not in the pink of health. An emotional Poojary said that this may be his last Dasara.

Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra managing committee president H S Sairam, vice president Raghavendra Kulur, secretary B Madhava Suvarna, treasurer Padmaraj R and member Harikrishna Bantwal were present.
