The JD(S) leader who held hectic parleys with Congress leaders with regard to the Mayoral polls during the day, later sought his mother’s blessings at the Padmanabhagar residence, before leaving to the hospital.

He was accompanied to the hospital by party leaders T A Sharavana, Bhoje Gowda and C S Puttaraju.

Kumaraswamy said that when he had undergone heart surgery ten years ago, the doctors had inserted a tissue valve, which was in now need of replacement. He said that the valve had been damaged following his incessant coughing.

His health ailments had aggravated during his recent visit to Israel, requiring hospitalisation. He had, however, put off the surgery, wanting to consult his doctors back home.

His relative and noted cardiologist Dr C N Manjunath will oversee the surgery, which will be performed at around 10.55 am, after the passing of the inauspicious hour ‘rahu kala’.
