Janapada Nrutya, college natakotsava in districts

With an intention to re-create desi culture in college campuses, the Dharwad Rangayana has decided to hold ‘Janapada Nrutya and College Natakotsava’, stated Dharwad Rangayana Director Prakash Garud.

Select colleges
Informing this to media persons in Dharwad on Wednesday, he stated that these two events would be held in selected degree and post-graduation colleges coming in seven districts namely Dharwad, Gadag, Belagavi, Haveri, Bagalkot, Vijaypur and Uttar Kannada districts. In every district, a total of eight colleges will be selected for the dance and drama event, he added.

Prizes will be given
Prizes will be given at the district level. The team winning first place will carry a purse of Rs 10,000, second place Rs 5,000, while for the folk dance, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 cash reward will be given for first two places.

These teams will also find a place to take part in the division-level competition, and first two teams here will be selected for the State-level drama competition, he noted.

The teams winning divisional-level will bag a purse of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The drama team which wins the State-level competition will get a cash reward of Rs 50,000, and runner-up will get Rs 25,000.

Folk dance competition
The winners of folk dance competition at the State-level will get a cash reward of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. The Rangayana will be appointing directors to enact drama and also for folk dance.

State-level competition
The divisional level competitions would be held in Dharwad and State-level competition would be held in Bengaluru.

All these events would be held in November and the interested colleges are asked to register their names before October 13.
