Female gang tricks woman into parting with 40-gm gold chain

A 40-gram gold chain was snatched from an elderly woman by diverting her attention by two other women on Channasandra Main Road, here on Thursday.

Police said the victim Padma (69) was waiting near the temple when a woman approached her and asked to hold on to her child while she counts her money.

Meanwhile, the other woman approached them saying that she had lost her purse and asked them to swear their mangalsutras that they had not taken it. The first woman did it and forced Padma to do the same.

Later, the women told Padma not to wear back her mangalasutra immediately as it is inauspicious for her husband and the woman tied Padma’s chain to her sari. When the victim opened a saree knot after going home, she found sand in it and realised that she had been cheated.

Padma filed a complaint before Rajarajeshwari Nagar and the police are looking for CCTV footage to nab the accused.
