Virakthamutt Basava Prabhu swamiji has demanded the State and Union governments to ensure jobs for unemployed youths to build a robust nation.

Inaugurating the signature campaign conducted by Youths for Employment Karnataka Organisation demanding the Union and State governments to ensure jobs to youths held near University BDT College of Engineering in Davangere on Friday, he said, the governments should take urgent steps for job creation programmes and schemes.

He said, 65% of the population of the country is youths. They need jobs. There are all chances of unemployed youths falling prey to naxal and terrorist organisations if the government fails to take up employment generation activities.

The disruptive forces in the country will take advantage of the situation and attract youths to join naxal, terrorist and other anti-social activities, he said.

The government should come up with programmes to utilise the energy of the burgeoning youth population to build a prosperous and progressive nation, he said.

Government First Grade College and Post Graduate Study Centre Principal Mallikarjuna Kalamarahalli said, providing jobs to unemployed youths is one the main duties of the government.

“Governments provide education, food and healthcare. Along with this, it should also ensure jobs to youths. The success and failure of any government depends upon creation of job opportunities to its citizens.

The government should encourage self-employment and focus on creation of entrepreneur skills to make youths constructive citizens. It should encourage youths to set up their own business and industries by providing financial aid”, he said.

“In recent days, various tele-communication companies are attracting youths and customers by offering free sim cards, cheap mobile data and smart phone.

There are both advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone and other electronic gadgets. Youths should make use of the benefits to enhance their knowledge and for development of skills. The nation can progress if youths are provided with jobs and empowered in all aspects, he said.
