Protesting against the doctors and staff of a government hospital here for not properly treating his sick parents who died in a span of a few hours, their son staged a dramatic exit carrying his mother’s body. The scene has gone viral.

The couple, Marappa (76) and Thimamma (70), were suffering from age-related illnesses, the doctors said.

Their son had admitted them to the hospital on Sunday evening. While Marappa died towards evening, his wife breathed her last around 9 pm.

Angered by the death of both his parents in a few hours, their youngest son Ravi didn’t even ask for a stretcher and carried his mother’s body, hospital authorities said.

Ravi’s elder brother Tirupati said, “Though our parents were admitted in the morning, no action was taken by the doctors to ease their pain. While we were making arrangements to shift our father’s body, our mother too died. The hospital authorities did not make any effort to provide an ambulance or a stretcher. That is why Ravi carried our mother’s body and walked away.”

It is learnt that the couple were suffering from cough. They could have been saved if their given  immediate treatment. Ravi took his mother’s body in an autorickshaw, said Anti-corruption Forum president P A Ganesh.

“We know for sure that Marappa and Thimamma were admitted for respiratory problems and were treated on Sunday. I cannot confirm if the son carried his mother’s body on his shoulder and walked out of the hospital,” said Dr Salim of the hospital.
