“Issues like revisiting the load shedding schedule and purchasing power from outside sources to ease the crisis will be discussed at the meeting,” Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa told reporters in Shikaripur on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister informed that generation capacity of Udupi and Raichur thermal power stations will be enhanced as new units will become operational shortly. Both the companies have been asked to expedite the process. With the commissioning of the new units, the State government will get 600 MW additional power from Udupi thermal power company and 850 MW from Raichur thermal power station, he informed.

Even private power companies have been asked to contribute to the State grid and Jindal
Power Company is supplying 650 MW. Replying to a query, Yeddyurappa said that technical problems in getting power from energy-rich Gujarat will be addressed at the earliest. The Chief Minister admitted that additional pressure was exerted on hydel power stations and blamed frequent technical snags in Raichur and Bellary thermal power stations for this.
