GP staff demand pay parity, stage dharna

The demands included increase in salary of Gram Panchacyat employees and salary to be paid along with dearness allowance, all the Gram Panchayat employees should be identified at par with State government employees and separate grant up for the salaries of panchayat employees.

The protesting employees  demanded immediate payment of salary arrears, regularisation of services and increasing the salary of graduate GP employees.The third finance commission recommended to release a grants to the tune of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 15 lakh grant depending upon population under the purview of a  gram panchayat.

 However, the agitating employeed demanded a grant of Rs  25 lakh. At present every GP is being given just Rs 1.5 lakh grant. Gram Panchayat Workers Association president Maruthi Manpade, district unit president Siddagangappa, leaders Sudarshan, Anand, N S Chalapathi, Venkatramaiah, Narasimhamurthy, Manjunath, Munikrishnappa, Sabulal, Shivareddy, DYFI leaders M P Munivenkatappa, B N Munikrishnappa, SFI’s Madhulata and others took part in the dharna.
