Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Venkatesh alleged that some Zilla Panchayat members, who are also the contractors were instrumental in moving the no-confidence motion. He said that a complaint has been lodged to the Congress disciplinary committee for violating the party whip.

Fourteen Zilla Panchayat members had moved the no-confidence motion against Venkatesh, in violation of the whip issued by the disciplinary committee.

“The members of my party have stabbed in my back in collusion with JD(S) members. I am made a victim of politics of vengeance. The no-confidence motion was brought at the instigation of former Zilla Panchayat president,” he alleged.

Claiming that he had never refused to resign from his post, Venkatesh said that the party leaders had never asked him to put in papers. Venkatesh said that he had the satisfaction of serving the people during his tenure. He said that he has initiated action against contractors carrying out slipshod work.

Venkatesh declared that he would continue to serve the people even after exiting as the vice-president and would strive for the development of the district. He warned of “throwing out” the people involved in anti-party activities.
