Separatist Asiya Andrabi's pic in J&K's beti bachao campaign

In a major embarrassment to Jammu and Kashmir government, the picture of the chairperson of radical women's outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of Faith) Asiya Andrabi has surfaced in a poster of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign.

Andrabi could be seen next to Mother Teresa in the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' (Save and educate the girl child) poster issued by state's Child Development Project Officer ICDS Project Breng in Anantnag.

The poster also features a picture of J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, astronaut Kalpana Chawla, tennis player Sania Mirza, retired Indian Police Service officer Kiran Bedi, playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, legendary Kashmiri poetess Habba Khatoon and other women high achievers.

Despite repeated attempts Director ICDS Kashmir didn't respond to phone calls by the DH. According to Child Development ministry website, 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' is a publicly funded social campaign launched by Narendra Modi government to tackle the decline in CSR (child sex ratio) in 100 gender-critical districts.

Andrabi is currently behind the bars for "anti-national" activities. The firebrand separatist leader, who was arrested by the police on April 26, was believed to be instrumental in organising student protests across the Kashmir colleges. She had been booked for celebrating Pakistan Day in 2015 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

Andrabi is married to Ashiq Hussain Faktoo, who has been awarded life term for his role in the murder of human rights activist lawyer H.N. Wanchoo 1992.
