Though actor Sonu Gowda has been in Sandalwood for a while, she strongly believes that there is a lot more to explore in the industry. Last seen in the Kannada film ‘Happy New Year’, this actor has great expectations on her upcoming films.

She is looking forward to the thriller ‘Gultoo’, where she will be seen playing a computer instructor.

In an interview with Tini Sara Anien, the actor reveals more about her role and her other upcoming films.

What is keeping you busy nowadays?

I am awaiting the release of ‘Gultoo’. The dubbing of ‘Chambal’ is going on. I have another untitled film with Diganth for which the shoot is going on. I’m done with the first schedule of the travel film ‘Onthara Bannagalu’. A non-commercial film, ‘Shalini IAS’, was also announced recently and it will hit the floors soon.

How excited are you about ‘Gultoo’?

Very excited! I can’t even explain how I feel. I’m sure that I will get a lot of attention for my role. This is my first full-fledged role. I have been waiting for a platform to prove myself and this is going to be one. From being an innocent playful girl to a serious responsible instructor, I have different shades to portray.

The teaser of ‘Gultoo’ garnered a lot of attention...

We got one lakh likes in a matter of three days after the teaser was uploaded on YouTube. The team and I have been getting phenomenal response from people from all walks of life. ‘Gultoo’ has all the important ingredients to be a hit movie. The genre of the film is also attracting people to it.

Why are thriller stories popular nowadays?

Yes, thriller stories are a big hit now. One can never predict why a certain format of movie clicks well with audience. Sometimes, it’s not easy to understand what the people like. Everything depends on how strong your story is.

How was it to work with Satish Ninasam in ‘Chambal’?

He is a spontaneous actor and very versatile. Satish stays true to the character even off the screen. He likes to immerse himself in every role that he takes up.

Is there any kind of role that you want to play?

I want to work in more non-commercial films.

With so much happening in your career, how do you feel?

I’m in a happy phase. At the same time, I know that I have to be responsible and take up good projects during this exciting period of my life.

How would you describe yourself as an actor?

I am a director’s actor and not a method actor. I always go with the flow. My biggest strength is that I am punctual which is very important.

What do you like about being an actor?

I love the attention I get from the audience. The positive reviews that each movie receives give me an adrenaline rush.

How do you relax?

I love travelling. Every trip has a new story to tell. That is how life is too, one doesn’t know how tomorrow will be. So being prepared for unexpected twists is the best way to move forward.
