Dr Batra's eyes rural market

Homeopathic healthcare provider Dr Batra’ Group of Companies is looking at huge opportunity in rural markets, and working on to tap 6,000 villages across the country that need healthcare.

“We are making use of technology and connecting with rural population through telemedicine but the problem is supply chain. We are thinking of ways to reach them with medicines, as logistics is a huge challenge right now,” Dr Mukesh Batra, Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Dr Batra’s Group of Companies said.

Apart from these issues, price point is also something that the company is looking at. “We need to cut down prices and we are working on to reach out to villages,” Batra added.

The company, which sells 1.5 lakh products every month and offer services to 1.7 lakh people, is planning to add clinics in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain this month. “In Bahrain, it’s going to be a recognised corporate clinic. Apart from India, where we are present in 130 cities, we have clinics in UK, UAE and Bangladesh. We are also present in Tier-3 and Tier-4 markets through our franchise partners in 80 clinics. We want to reach out to one crore people in five years,” Batra said. Dr Batra’s is growing at 10% and it closed the last fiscal with a turnover of Rs 221 crore.

“This fiscal, we are expecting to close around Rs 240 crore,” he added. Talking about the Karnataka market, where Dr Batra’s has 21 clinics, he said, “There are 14 clinics in Bengaluru alone, and Karnataka contributes almost 11% of our total business.”
