Nestled in the comfort of home
Spending as much time as possible with my family is my idea of a perfect weekend. Since I don’t really have the concept of a weekend, I make the most of whichever day I get an off from work.

Thanks to the number of great movies coming out these days, my weekends are often spent catching up on these. I usually go out with my family and watch a movie that we have missed or a play in the city. Having said that, life in Mumbai is otherwise very busy. I just shifted here from Chandigarh a year back and it is quite different.

My wife Aakriti and I go on dates every week. I am a ‘masala chai’ person and we have this ‘2 am chai date’ at ‘The Westin Mumbai Garden City’ in Goregaon. This is a fixed plan and has become a habit now. So at night when we are done with everything and there is not much traffic on road, we love driving around and going for tea. It is either me and my wife or me, my wife, my brother and sister-in-law. Thankfully, both our families stay in the same area so it gives us enough time to meet each other regularly.

I don’t really prefer clubbing and partying. For me, spending time at home is the best way to rejuvenate. My wife and I would rather call our friends over to our place and spend time at home. I am into playing board games like Taboo and Pictionary. It’s fun and relaxing.

Family lunches and dinners are a regular weekend affair. We like to visit some of our favourite restaurants and also try out new places sometimes. ‘Masala Library’ in Bandra East and ‘+91 India Calling’ in Juhu are two of my favourite restaurants. My wife and I are also fans of the pizza and ‘chai’ at Prithvi Theatre. This apart, I also try my hands at cooking sometimes. I am a foodie and relish Punjabi and Mughlai cuisines.
Being fit comes naturally to me and it doesn’t take a back seat even during weekends. For me, fitness means playing football. I love this sport and play a game or two during the weekends too.

There are also times when a short trip to nearby places like Lonavala sees a place in our weekend schedule. If there is a long weekend ahead of us, we visit our parents in Chandigarh, which is at least once every month.

Reading is another hobby of mine, though I only read biographies and autobiographies of filmmakers, sports personalities and musicians. I make sure my reading habit continues even on weekends.
