BPM revenues pegged at $55b by 2025

India’s business process management (BPM) sector revenue is projected to increase to $50-55 billion by 2025 from $30 billion in FY17, National  Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) said on Thursday.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the 19th BPM Strategy Summit organised by Nasscom, Nasscom BPM Council Chair Rohit Kapoor said the growth is possible between $50 billion and $55 billion by the year 2025 despite further cannibalisation of revenue because of automation, technologies and the use of robotics in much pervasive way.

“And yet the value that this industry will contribute is going to be significantly higher. The BPC Industry in India is healthy, kicking and  having a great time, and is at a very exciting stage of its evolution and development,” he said.

The industry body also projected that digital streams would account for 60% to 70% of the BPM service providers’ revenue by 2025, overtaking traditional streams, with advanced technology solutions and intelligent automation driving much of this growth.

Claiming that India remains the largest BPM base in the world, Nasscom said its share in the global BPM market had expanded from 36% last year to 37% this year.

Largest one

Kapoor said BPM industry in India is the largest across the globe and in FY 2017 the sector’s revenue grew phenomenally at 8.8% to $29.8 billion from the previous years at $28 billion. He also pointed out that the industry directly employed 1.1 million employees to 1.2 million employees, adding 100,000 net new positions.

Nasscom Chairman Raman Roy said the BPM industry is going from strength-to-strength, embracing the change as it emphasises on customer experience, service, and innovation and setting the trends across the globe.

“In this era of changing expectations, hybrid growth driven by higher order thinking and digital assistance will drive dynamic shifts towards new geographies, verticals and markets,” Roy said.
