Seven persons arrested for Farangipete double murder

The Dakshina Kannada police arrested seven persons in connection with the double murder at Farangipete in Bantwal on the night of September 25.

According to SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy, old rivalry is said to be the reason for the attack. The police are on look out for others involved in the attack as well as planning of the murder.

The arrested are Deal Naufal alias Naufal (25), Amir Sohail (24), Mohammed Fazul (25), Adram (29), Michcha (24), Taslim (24) and Arshad (24).

Two persons were killed and three suffered injuries in a gang war at Farangipete in Bantwal taluk.

The dead have been identified Zia, a resident of Adyarkatte and Fayaz alias Payya of Adyar Birpugudde. The injured are Fazal, Hameez and Mushtaq.

Arrest for ganja sale

The police, attached to Narcotic and Economics Offences Station, arrested a youth when he was allegedly trying to sell ganja, at Kudroli on Friday.

According to the police, the arrested is Anees Ashraf. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided and arrested him. Nine packets of ganja worth Rs 6,300 and Rs 700 in cash have been seized.

Malbari’s aide held

The Mangaluru North Anti -Rowdy Squad sleuths arrested an associate of underworld operative Rasheed Malbari at Kallanthadka in Puttur.

According to a press release from City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, Mohammed Shameer alias Dami alias Deadly (27), is a resident of Jokatte in Mangaluru.

Extortion case have been registered against him in Panambur Police Station in 2013 and he was absconding. There are five cases registered against him in Panambur police station and one in Surathkal police station.

Pepper theft

The police on Friday arrested four persons on the charge of stealing 20 quintals of black pepper from a shop at Arlapadavu in Panaje of Puttur taluk.

The arrested are Arshad alias Afrad (23) of Kasargod, Mohammed Safwan alias Safwan (22) of Vidyapura in Kabaka, Abdul Azeez alias Addi (26) of Arlapadavu, Pramod Kutinha (23) of Panaje.

Upon suspicion, the police waylaid two vehicles at Bulerikatte and during the interrogation, the pepper theft came to light. The police have seized seven quintals of black pepper.
