Senior Congress leader from Maharahstra commits suicide
Senior Congress leader from Maharashtra, Mahadev Shelar, reportedly committed suicide in Mumbai on Saturday.

Shelar was general secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and a spokesperson. He  was found hanging from the ceiling of his residence. He was rushed to the Fortis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission.

The body has been sent to the Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar for post-mortem. No suicide note has been found so far.

Maharashtra Congress leader Ashok Chavan and leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil has condoled the death of Shelar.

Shelar was well read and a lawyer by profession. He had defended the party at difficult times.
