Financier shot dead on city outskirts

A 41-year-old financier was shot dead by unidentified assailants on the outskirts of the city on Friday evening.

The deceased, Muddu Krishna (41), was a resident of Chikkabelavangala. He was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing his errands.

The incident came to light when passers-by found him lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to a nearby private hospital, assuming he might have been involved in road traffic accident.

However, the doctors discovered that he was shot in the chest and alerted the police.

The Doddabelavangala police rushed to the spot and started their inquiries. They found out that assailants had followed him for sometime before they attacked and fired at him at an isolated place, a senior police officer said. It was a close-range single shot to the victim’s chest, he added.

The police said that the assailants had used country-made weapon, and the police have sent the cartridge for ballistic analysis for further investigation. The police suspect that financial dispute could have led to the murder.
