Twelve-year-old Poorvi  G B was recently awarded the ‘best performer’ subtitle at the ‘Little Miss World 2017’ pageant held in Greece. She is also the first Indian girl to win the title in the international beauty pageant and talent competition.

Poorvi won the title after she gave a Kathak dance performance. She also showcased the rich culture of Karnataka in the national costume round where she was dressed up as a Hoyasala sculpture.

Over 65 participants from 30 countries took part in the event. As part of the event, the participants were judged on various aspects like confidence, intelligence, physical features and involvement for social causes. The event also encompassed talent round, awareness round, crowning and ball room section. “I was very confident and fully prepared for the final event. It was just like a festival based on art, culture, style, intelligence and talent. It was a pageant where you can promote your talent and culture” said Poorvi, a student of Sophia High School.

The costumes worn by Poorvi showcased a blend of Indian and Kannada culture. ‘She is a very confident girl and balances her studies and co curricular activities with ease and I am proud of her for winning the title and bringing laurels for her city and the country’ said Aruna, Poorvi’s mother.
