Guard held for stealing cash, revolver from employer

A 63-year-old man working as a security guard at a house in North Bengaluru’s Yelahanka New Town was arrested for stealing cash and a .32 revolver from the house of his employer.

Prasanna Kumar was working as security guard at the house of Sathish Chandra, who runs a school in Yelahanka New Town. On Friday, the family went to Hassan to visit relatives and asked Kumar to take care of the house, a police officer said.

Taking advantage of the situation, Kumar stole the cash as well as the revolver. When the family returned on Monday, they found some cash and revolver missing, the officer added.

The family registered a complaint at the jurisdictional Yelahanka New Town police station.

Police suspected Kumar and arrested him. During questioning, Kumar confessed to the crime.

The police have recovered the revolver from the suspect. They are still interrogating Kumar to ascertain how much cash did he steal from the house.
