JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday reiterated that his party will not field either his nephew Prajwal Revanna or his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Addressing the media in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy said that only two members of the H D Deve Gowda family — he and his brother H D Revanna — would contest the elections.

He also dismissed as rumours reports that his son Nikhil Gowda would be entering politics.

Recently, Prajwal, son Revanna, had expressed his willingness to contest the election from Rajareshwarinagar constituency in Bengaluru. The 27-year-old has been mounting pressure on the party leadership to field him ever since his chances of contesting from Hunsur were scuttled.

Besides, Anitha is also eager to contest from Channapatna constituency. “I have already said that only two people from our family will contest the elections. I have also told my son that he should only involve himself in the campaigning activities,” he added.
