The deceased has been identified as Raghu (20), a native of Beguru village, Shikaripur taluk.

It is said, the student had returned to the hostel from his native after a Deepavali break on Sunday evening. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room by his roommates at 6 pm.

Raghu was taken to the hospital immediately where he was declared brought dead. After the post-mortem, the body was handed to relatives in Beguru at midnight.

Meanwhile, the parents and relatives of the victim, staged a flash protest on Shikaripur-Honnali road by keeping the body of Raghu on Monday. They alleged that it was a murder and not suicide.

The protesters relented after the police assured them of impartial probe into the suspicious death of the medical student

Sources in SIMS stated that Raghu had told his classmates that some body else may have to perform his role in the skit which was to be performed at freshers day programme slated for October 31.

Raghu had obtained 600th rank in the entrance examination and had obtained the medical seat on merit.
