'Speed up HRMS in education department'

Last Updated 24 October 2017, 21:24 IST

The Karnataka State Primary Teachers’ Association (KSPTA) has urged the commissioner of the Department of Public Instruction to speed up the process of updating service details of teachers at Human Resource Management System (HRMS) for time-bound promotion.

In a letter to commissioner P C Jaffer, KSPTA president Basavaraj Gurikar pointed out that about 6,000 eligible teachers are awaiting promotion.

“Due to lack of staff to manage HRMS, there is a delay of about six months in updating details. More staff should be appointed to manage HRMS so that teachers get time-bound promotion,” he stated in the letter.

Block education officers forward a list of teachers who have served for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years in the department. The details are uploaded to the HRMS after the list is approved, he added.
