Prem Kumar Dhumal is BJP'S CM face in Himachal
The BJP in Himachal Pradesh got a shot in the arm on Tuesday after party president Amit Shah declared former chief Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate.

This puts an end to all the speculations about a change of guard in the BJP after the election results.

Addressing a poll rally at Rajgarh in Sirmaur district of the state, Shah said while the BJP was contesting under the leadership of Narendra Modi in the whole country, in Himachal Pradesh they will contest these polls under the leadership of their senior leader P K Dhumal.

Dhumal is a two-term chief minister. There had been talks of announcing Union Health Minister J P Nadda as the chief minister in case the BJP is victorious in the upcoming elections.

Shah said, "Dhumal is a former chief minister and at present the Leader of the Opposition, but after December 18 (the result date) he will be the state's next chief minister”.

The saffron party hopes to make the most of the announcement in the last leg of campaigning that ends on November 7.

The party cadre has been reeling under a sense of disenchantment with talks of Dhumal being sidelined by the BJP. Dhumal is actively campaigning across the state.

Dhumal did not aggressively voice his dissent with the BJP for not being announced the chief ministerial candidate. However, he often said that the central leadership should keep in mind the feelings of the people and announce a chief ministerial face of the party.
