Video: Ashish Nehra shows off his football prowess in farewell match

Yesterday's India vs New Zealand match was a particularly special one, at least for Ashish Nehra. In a fitting farewell for the veteran cricketer, the Indian team scored a comfortable 53-run win over the challengers, taking the match and the series.

But the fun would belong to Nehra as he casually put on an impressive display of his football skills, impressing Virat Kohli, himself a football fan.

Following the match, both sides left no stone unturned to praise Nehra on his last match, with both Kohli and Kane Williamson taking turns to express respect and praise for the retiring player.

"To have played 19 years is very hard for a fast bowler. I know how professional he's been and how hard he's worked. He deserved this kind of a farewell with the crowd cheering him. He can now spend time with his family, he's got a beautiful family. We'll stay in touch but we'll miss him and I wish him all the best."

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson termed his side's performance as disappointing but said they would look to bounce back in the second match.

"It was a disappointing performance tonight. We were very poor on the field. India played superbly. There are no excuses. We needed to play better. India was outstanding and never gave us a sniff. Our spinners bowled really well but the bowlers around them went for a lot of runs," he said.

"I want to congratulate Ashish on a fantastic career. I have played against him and with him, always a gentleman on and off the field."
