Bullock cart procession gives traditional look to Hampi Utsav

A procession of bullock carts provided a traditional and rural touch to Hampi Utsav on Thursday.

Around 200 bullock carts decked up with balloons, banana shoots, torans and other decorative items gathered in the open space near Galemma Temple in Hosapete taluk. While the horns of bullocks were painted and decorated, Kannada flags added to the look of the carts. Those riding the bullock carts had worn white traditional attire with saffron turbans.

The procession which began at Galemma Temple went through Queen's bath site at Hampi and concluded at Yallamma temple.

A festive atmosphere was created in the area as people stood on either sides of the road to watch the grand procession.

MLA Anand Singh, Assistant Commissioner Prashantkumar Mishra, Tahsildar H Vishwanath, Joint Director of Agriculture Sharanappa Mudgal, Deputy Director Shivangowda Patil, Siddesh, Hosapete Assistant Director Manjunath Kannari and others were present during the rally.

Bicycle-bike rallies

As part of Hampi Utsav, a bicycle and bike rally was held on Thursday.

MLA Anand Singh flagged off the bicycle rally at the taluk stadium at 7:00 am. More than 500 students geared in blue pant, red T-shirts and yellow caps and locals took part in the bicycle rally which passed through major streets of Hosapete and culminated at Hampi.

At 5:00 pm, District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad flagged off the bike rally at the Taluk stadium. Wearing blue pant, yellow T-shirt and ted caps, more than 200 people took part in the bike rally.

The rallies also drew the attention of the local people.
