Woman kills self after husband gets injured in accident

A 24-year-old woman killed herself on Saturday by hanging after her husband sustained injuries in a road accident the previous day.

Akshatha of Manasagangothri reportedly took the extreme step after her husband Veeresh suffered injuries in a road accident near Ballal Circle in the city on Friday. After treatment at the K R Hospital, Veeresh returned to the house.

On Saturday morning, a depressed Akshatha killed herself when Veeresh had been to the K R Traffic Police station to get his two-wheeler. The incident came to light when Veeresh returned home after an hour.

Akshatha, a native of Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, had married Veeresh from Raichur seven months back. According to Meenamma, Akshatha's mother, the couple were happy and were leading a good life.
