DC warns political parties, pvt bodies not to celebrate Tipu Jayanti

Deputy Commissioner B Ramu on Saturday, said that no organisation or political party is allowed to celebrate Tipu Jayanti as the district administration itself is celebrating the birth anniversary on November 10.

In a press meet here the DC said, the district administration is holding a programme at JH Patel auditorium, in the city, and all the people, irrespective of caste or religion can participate. But no other organisation is allowed to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, either on November 10 or any other day, he said.

Ramu warned of stern action against the organisations and leaders, who speak against the celebration and those who issue provocative statements, which may create communal violence. The programme has been scheduled for 3 pm as the Muslim community people need to participate in namaz, earlier during the day.

Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Meena said, no banners, flags or posters are allowed. "The police will establish check-posts in advance at the entry points to the district from neighbouring states and the districts. The vehicles entering the district will be inspected at the check-posts. There is a ban on the procession, rally, and other events," he said.

The SP said that the security forces will be deputed at sensitive places across the district. As many as 520 police constables, 300 home guards, 11 police inspectors, two deputy superintendents of police and two KSRP battalions will be deputed.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K Harishkumar and Additional Deputy Commissioner K M Gayathri were present.
