<p class="bodytext">The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is developing various cost-effective and innovative initiatives to maintain an edge in technology to help the country prosper, said Isro Chairman A S Kiran Kumar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In his convocation speech at the National College, Basavanagudi, on Sunday, he said:" Isro is moving forward with the development of heavy lift launchers, reusable launch vehicles, cryogenic engines, low-cost access to space, development and use of composite materials for space applications."</p>.<p class="bodytext">During the convocation, 11 students were presented gold medals in UG and PG programmes and 1,240 students were presented convocation certificates.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Due to delay in renewing affiliation by Bangalore University, students of the National College were given convocation certificates three years after they graduated.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The UGC had sent a team from Delhi for inspection. However, the BU had not sent a team for separate inspection which delayed renewal of the autonomous status of the college for about three years, said sources.</p>
