IT staffing industry to grow 14-16%

The IT staffing industry is pegged to grow at 14-16% per annum in the next few years, and is the highest contributing employer of flexi staff in India.

According to a report titled 'Indian IT Staffing Report 2017', conducted by KPMG on behalf of Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), the Indian IT flexi staffing industry is worth $3.04 billion in FY 2017, and the Indian industry is 4.8% of global and 28% of APAC IT flexi staffing industry.

The study aims to highlight the scale, impetus and status of the IT staffing industry in India.
"The pace at which the IT sector is evolving, bench model of the industry where full time employees are kept on standby in expectation of new projects, is vanishing. Companies have fundamentally started opting for flexi staff to have flexibility and competitive edge over others," ISF President Rituparna Chakraborty said.

She added, "The results highlight the scale and potential of IT staffing to register a sustained growth of 14-16% year-on-year till 2021 across top states and sectors of the country. Ecommerce and Startups alone are expected to witness 17.3% growth of IT flexi staff".
According to the report, IT flexi staffing industry is expected to observe a paradigm shift in demand and revenue of technolgy domains. The report added that the next big things in technology are automation, data science, artificial intellgience, robotics, cloud computing and Internet of Things
