<p>India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall over the city and parts of south interior Karnataka for the next two days.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The rainfall and cloud cover will also lead to a drop in temperatures in the coming days. The city on Tuesday up to 5.30 pm received 5 mm rainfall and HAL airport received 3.2 mm rainfall.</p>.<p class="bodytext">No rainfall was recorded at Kempegowda International Airport. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city were 26 and 19.7 degree Celsius, respectively. The maximum temperature was one degree below normal and the minimum temperature was 0.7 degree above normal.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Sunder M Metri, IMD-Bengaluru Director-in-charge said the rainfall which Bengaluru and most parts of south interior Karnataka are experiencing is because of the formation of various systems which are normal during north-east monsoon.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to IMD, there is a trough of low at mean sea level from Comorin area to east-central Arabian Sea. There is also a cyclonic circulation over south-east Arabian Sea off south Kerala coast extending up to 3.6 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of these systems, rainfall will continue over Bengaluru, Kolar, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and surrounding areas.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Metri explained that during the north-east monsoon, normally coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu experience rainfall. But when the system intensifies, parts of south interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru experience rainfall. The intensity of rainfall during this season depends upon the systems. However, it is not severe and prolonged as the south-west monsoon.</p>
