Horata samithi calls for Kodagu bandh on Nov 10

The Tipu Jayanti Virodhi Horata Samithi has called for a Kodagu bandh on November 10 between 6 am and 6 pm to oppose Tipu Jayanti celebrations here.

Samithi president Abhimanyu Kumar said that Tipu was a "bigot". Kumar said that for the past two years, November 10 is being observed as black day to condemn the murder of Kuttappa in Kodagu. Kuttappa Martyr Day will be observed in all the three taluks in the district, he said.

Support sought

He appealed to the district chamber of commercce to support the bandh by shutting down all business establishments in the district. He also appealed to bus and auto owners to extend their support to the bandh.

He said that the bandh will be peaceful and will not affect marriage functions of any other private celebrations. The bandh will also not affect the supply of essential commodities including milk and medical shops.

He however, warned that in case the district administration invites one particular community or party, then we will have to forcibly enter the hall where Tipu Jayanti will be observed.
