I-T conducts raids on Sasikala's relatives

Residences and premises of jailed  AIADMK leader VK Sasikala's relatives were raided by the Income Tax (I-T) officials since Thursday morning.

Searches were conducted at Sasikala's nephew TTV Dhinakaran residence and also at the premises of Jaya TV.

I-T sources said officials began their raids in about 90 locations belonging to relatives of Sasikala and companies connected to them in several district headquarters since early morning.

"We are conducting searches in about 90 places including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Hyderabad and Delhi," a senior IT official said on condition of anonymity.

According to the official, searches were also conducted at the Thanjavur residence of M Natarajan, husband of Sasikala. Sources further said that raids were conducted with regard to 'hawala' transactions that were routed to several firms after demonetisation.

I-T officials  are also  planning to conduct searches at the residence of former chief minister Jayalalitha in the city. In addition, raids were also conducted at the premises of AIADMK's Tamil Daily Namadhu MGR. Sources said several documents have been seized.
