Barring a minor incident, the Kodagu bandh call, given by various organisations opposing Tipu Jayanti, was successful.

Some miscreants allegedly pelted stones at a KSRTC bus at Kattekallu in Madikeri taluk. Four persons, who came in bike at 7.30 am, have damaged the windows. The movement of vehicles at Kadagadalu was disrupted for a few minutes when miscreants placed a wooden log on the road.

Tipu Jayanti Virodhi Samiti President Abhimanyu Kumar was injured while trying to lay siege to the programme venue at Somwarpet.

MLAs M P Appacchu Ranjan, K G Bopaiah, MLC Sunil Subramani, Zilla Panchayat President B A Harish and more than 200 people, who waved black flag, were arrested and were later released.

The members of Sangh Parivar offered prayers at Omkareshwara Temple as part of Martyr Kuttappa Jayanti on the occasion.

All the KSRTC buses operated as usual in the district. However, private buses, autorickshaws remained off the road. The shops and business establishments remained closed. A majority of the private schools had declared a wholiday.

MLA M P Appacchu Ranjan, MLC Sunil SUbramani and others raised slogans against the state government and Tipu Sultan.

Sunil Subramani said that Tipu was a bigot who had massacred Kodavas.
