New wings to check radicalisation, cyber crime

Last Updated 11 November 2017, 03:36 IST

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has created two new divisions to check radicalisation and cyber fraud. They are Counter Terrorism and Counter-Radicalisation (CTCR) and Cyber and Information Security (CIS).

The counter-radicalisation wing has been entrusted with the job of devising quick strategies for de-radicalisation and to check terrorism. The CTCR division has to prepare action plans for combating terrorism and radicalisation, with definite deliverables and timelines.

It will also monitor threats to internal security from increased radicalisation, mostly online, and terrorism. The reach of global terrorist outfits will also be analysed and monitored by this wing.

The cyber crime wing will monitor online crimes and threats, including cyber fraud and hacking, besides suggesting ways to minimise and fight them.
